About Us
We are a theatre company dedicated to taking a deep dive into a playwright's corpus. Each season, we produce a selection of plays by a single playwright.
Who We Are
We build each season around a single playwright — their language, their obsessions, their era. It's a format that rewards company and audience alike: our actors and designers get to live inside one writer's voice across an entire year, and our audiences leave each season having gone deep rather than wide.
One Writer, One Season
Recent and upcoming seasons have been built around some of the twentieth century's defining dramatists:
- 2023–2024 — Sam Shepard
- 2024–2025 — Eugène Ionesco
- 2025–2026 — Tennessee Williams
- 2026–2027 — George F. Walker
Leadership
The company is led by Artistic Director Michael Brennan, who has steered Daryl's Playhouse's single-playwright format and the ensemble of actors, directors, and designers who return season after season to bring it to life.
Community & Recognition
Our work has been recognized with three Thornton Award nominations and an Ember Award for Outstanding Production, and supported by a Canada Council for the Performing Arts project grant for new Canadian work and a multi-year partnership with the Toronto Community Foundation. Our Community Access Initiative works to keep every season within reach, regardless of ability to pay.
