Anastasia Volkov is a sound designer and acoustic composer who emigrated from Kyiv to Toronto in 2015 and has since become one of the most sought-after designers in the city's independent theatre community. She studied at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television and completed a residency at the Canadian Music Centre on her arrival in Canada. Her sound designs are notable for their use of texture and negative space: she has described her approach as finding the sound that was already in the room before the play began. She has designed for Nightwood, Obsidian Theatre, and the Belfry in Victoria.
