Yuki Nakashima is a Japanese-Canadian set and production designer whose work is distinguished by its relationship to negative space — sets that define what is absent as much as what is present. She trained at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver before completing a master's degree in scenography at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts. Her designs for Nothing Sacred evoke the Russian country estate of Turgenev's original while locating it deliberately in an indeterminate contemporary somewhere, as though the play's ideas have outlived the specific world that generated them. She has designed for the Arts Club in Vancouver, Canadian Stage, and the Shaw Festival.
